Florida Keys Fishing Reports

Into the blue
By: Mean Green Charters

I took a little vacation in September so there's not much to report in the way of fishing but we got back to work right before it was over. We started in hawks cay filming the 2013 season of into the blue and it was pretty good. They threw me in the water with big silkie sharks on the islomarada humps. Skipjacks, bonitos, and black fin tunas mostly there and did I say sharks... We got into a big school of jack cervale feeding on the reef and they had the water foaming at the surface. And, guess what else, sharks! Did a couple days in key west too, had the cobias eating pinfish right in front of the camera and guess what shows up, sharks.... It's a tiger and I gotta swim with it. Did u know that u are supposed to dive with a buddy because it automatically reduces your chances of being bit by 50%... I just figured that out last week. I fished south west of key west 3 days ago and the black fin tuna bight was awesome but after a couple hours of perfect conditions the big bull sharks showed up and started eating our tunas before we could get em in. Today was pretty windy so we stayed close and had couple kingfish, Spanish mackerel, gray snapper, yellowtail, big lane snappers and of course, sharks.... Black tips today....
